i am very dissapointed to say that they will still screen HBV for the new comers.

guys, there are still a lot of countries we can work without this kind of rule even better than here.  eventhough i have been given a clearance because mine is consider renewal, my sympathy is still with those who just want to work properly but they received comdemnation instead.

sagar2

concern please correct me if I'm getting it wrong thats mean a person who come here on visit visa then offered a job that does not fall in 6 categories so he will not go under HBV test am I right. hope to hear from you guys .

I dont agree till we get correct interpritation form lowyer, coz the way is stated is clear that As per the article 2, all expatriates who enter the UAE for work purpose or study or residency will be subjected to the medical check up as stated in the resolution, which specifies conditions for issuing residence visa or renewing it.
" For cases of hepatitis B, tuberculosis and leprosy, the new comers only will undergo medical check ups.[/b] But in case of Aids, new incomers and residents who seek renewal of residency will be all subjected to Aids test when applying or renewing residence visa. "

Pregnancy tests for some visa categories Asma Ali Zain

19 August 2010, 11:57 PMPregnancy tests for some categories of women workers will be required under a revised set of medical fitness rules for granting work and residency permits to expatriates in the country.

The date for its enforcement will be decided in due course while the fee structure remains unchanged, health officials announced on Thursday.

Under the new federal rules aimed at benefitting public health, all maids, nannies and female drivers will be required to undergo pregnancy tests. In case of a pregnancy, it will be up to the sponsor to allow her to work or not. Only a category of professionals applying for new or renewal of visas will be tested for Hepatitis B and Syphilis. Under this category, those testing positive for Hepatitis, will not be given residency permit while those testing negative will be given mandatory vaccination and issued a certificate. Those with Syphilis will be given treatment locally. Expatriates from all other professions and their dependants applying for a new/renewing visa will only be tested for HIV, pulmonary TB and Leprosy. Those testing positive for these diseases will not be given residency permit.

As reported by Khaleej Times last week only six categories of workers including nannies, housemaids, nursery/kindergarten supervisors, beauty salon and health club workers, private drivers and food handlers in cafeterias and restaurants will be tested for Hepatitis B and Syphilis.

“The latest amendments are designed to eliminate any existing gaps as a result of the increased numbers of foreign labourers to work or reside in the UAE,” said the Minister of Health, Dr Hanif Hassan while announcing the new rules.

There is also a plan to increase the number of medical checkup centres.

Rules for tuberculosis remain unchanged making old, new or active cases of pulmonary TB subject to deportation.

“In Dubai Health Authority, we isolate and treat such cases until completely cured before deporting them and providing them with one month’s medicine,” said Maisa Al Bustani, Head of the Medical Fitness Centre, DHA.

Dear All,

I'd like to keep special mention to those who, early on, suffered the misfortune of being deported from the UAE despite their best intentions. Finally all our prayers were answered. But it doesn't mean to say that the battle against this disease is over.

I have already mentioned of a research I want to pursue on the ability of one particular herb to promote seroconversion on its longterm use.  But this particular hypothesis would remain unproven unless the brave and determined ones who want to undergo the treatment will prove it.

Please post your reply if you are interested.  Thank you.

Regards,
KK

sagar2

plz kk then share with us that herb .

"No deportation for expats with hepatitis "

Hi Guys,

i m all excited to share Good News that UAE is now Allowing Hepatitis B Patients to be treated, these are the quotes from the newspaper link . http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/health/no-deportation-for-expats-with-hepatitis-1.670666"No deportation for expats with hepatitis
Expatriates affected with the disease will now be treated

By Mahmood Saberi Senior Reporter Published: 00:00 August 20, 2010
Dubai: New expatriate workers who are found to have Hepatitis B when they undergo their medical test will not be deported but will be given treatment, according to the Ministry of Health.

Resident expatriates will not be asked to undergo the test for Hepatitis B, while tests for Hepatitis C will no longer be needed under the new rules.

Those already in the UAE also will not have to undergo tests for TB. New arrivals will be tested only for pulmonary TB and those having the disease will not be granted a residence visa.

Dr Mahmoud Fikri, executive director of health policies, told the media that the new rules are to protect both the people and the society and make UAE a disease-free place to live.

Check-up changes

Earlier, Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health, said the changes in the medical checkup system for expatriates will cover any gaps in the system, specially with the growing number of foreign workers coming into the country.

He said the ministry plans to increase the number of medical centres if needed.

Those tested positive for Hepatitis B will have to take three doses of vaccinations and show proof that they have taken them. Workers have to show the vaccination certificate at the time of renewal of the visa. The first dose of vaccination will cost Dh 50 and the two others are free of charge, the minister said.

The category of workers, which include nannies, housemaids, nursery and KG supervisors, beauticians and barbers, health club workers, and food handlers, will have to undergo tests for Hepatitis B and also for syphilis. Treatment will given for syphilis, Dr Fikri said and the person will not be deported.

Sponsor's choice

Women workers, specially maids, nannies and drivers, will be asked to undergo a pregnancy test.

In case the test is found positive, it is left to the sponsor to either allow her to work or send her back home.

All expatriates coming to the UAE for work, studying or residence have to undergo medical tests.

Tests for Aids, or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, is still mandatory for new arrivals or resident expatriates at the time of renewal of the resident visa.
"

Hope this helps all our friends who are having second thoughts :D

warm regards

Abdulrahman

I have hep c anti bodies but negative in pcr. Is this new rule will also be implimented here in the philippines? Under the supervision of the recruitment agency. Is there anybody there who have the same problem here in the philippines?

Fridays

Guys, I am so happy that the news is everywhere here in Dubai that Hepatitis B will NOT be tested as medical requirement for resident visa! You may google 'Expat Forum UAE Hepatitis B' and you will see a lot of sources proving information about the new rule.

I cant help but be glad and ecstatic about this news. Truly God is good all the time. To God be the glory =)

Nitazoxanide alone has shown preliminary evidence of efficacy in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B over a one year course of therapy.[10] Nitazoxanide 500 mg twice daily resulted in a decrease in serum HBV DNA in all of 4 HBeAg-positive patients, with undetectable HBV DNA in 2 of 4 patients, loss of HBeAg in 3 patients, and loss of HBsAg in one patient. Seven of 8 HBeAg-negative patients treated with nitazoxanide 500 mg twice daily had undetectable HBV DNA and 2 had loss of HBsAg.Additionally, nitazoxanide monotherapy in one case and nitazoxanide plus adefovir in another case resulted in undetectable HBV DNA, loss of HBeAg and loss of HBsAg.[11] These preliminary studies showed a higher rate of HBsAg loss than any currently licensed therapy for chronic hepatitis B.The similar mechanism of action of interferon and nitazoxanide suggest that stand-alone nitazoxanide therapy or nitazoxanide in concert with nucleos(t)ide analogs have the potential to increase loss of HBsAg, which is the ultimate end-point of therapy. A formal phase â…¡ study is being planned for 2009.[12]

large off label use of alinia (nitazoxanide) has been started, you can see results on medhelp hbv community, it is reported a huge drop of hbsag quantity on hbeag negative hbv and fast hbvdna undetactable in the first 4 weeks of alinia at 1,5-2g daily dose
