Residency and Taxes in Brasil

dzgreek

Hi to everyone,
I an American citizen married to a Brasilian woman and I was able to get my residency card for Brasil January 30th 2021 after applying for it.
The validade is (indeterminado) due to our age. We are both 64 years old.
We intend to reside in the state of Sao Paulo.
My wife has a bank account in Brasil but I do not at the moment. We send money to her account for living expenses at the moment.
Could someone recommend a specialist in taxes for expats for the state of Sao Paulo that they have used before and trust?

Thank you very much for any replies.

If your better half is Brazilian, the tax accountant can handle your tax status in Brazil.

Anything outside of Brazil ( holdings, earned income, FATCA ) is under the purview of US Tax Code, therefore non applicable in Brazil.

Using an " expert" on expat taxation is a big pitfall, and you are asking to be taken advantage of with sometimes substandard service.

If you have no earnings in Brazil, and your income is derived from US investiments, pensions, just draw your expenses from your US accounts.

The way to find out if your US Based investments, pensions are taxable is just to download yourself  the Federal Tax Software used to file taxes here, play around with it, and see if there is any entry that you might qualify under.     Just google "IRPF2021 - Declaração de Ajuste Anual, Final de Espólio e Saída Definitiva do País"
