On assignment in Eldoret

Quasimodo

I am relocating from Australia to Eldoret in a few months time on a health fellowship program. I have never been to Africa and am rather anxious about living in a small city. Working at the hospital will keep me busy, but I wonder how I will keep myself occupied on the weekends and in the evenings. It seems that there isnt a lot to see or do in the area and I dont know how safe it will be to explore on my own. Any advice is welcome.

Probably not a great idea to go walking, or cycling on your own, for example.  As a general rule being out in urban areas after dark (from around 7pm) and on foot is not advisable.

I have never been to Eldoret though and don't have knowledge of the local facilities.

Hi Quasimodo, a bit of time passed from this post, but are u still in Eldoret? I just relocated here from the UK and I am desperately in search of connections - so difficult to start with due to covid. Advices etc will be much appreciated!
