Ordering motorcycle parts from Europe

jimclayton05

Hello everyone,

I am traveling in Tunisia and need to order some motorcycle parts from Europe.  I have read a few horror stories here on the forum about deliveries not arriving in Tunisia or being stuck in customs.

I do not have a postal address here in Tunisia so thought the best way to go would be to have the parts shipped via courier. It seems that DHL only has one collection point and that's in Tunis (I'm in Monastir at the moment), and Fedex have a few collection points around the country.

I have not been able to find information on the net about how much import duty is and on what goods it is applied.  I also can't figure out the process if duty is applicable - does customs contact the person ordering the goods and tells them they need to pay customs duty?  Can you pay online or do you have to go to an office somewhere?

If anyone can provide me with some information about how the system works, and they best way to go about ordering things from abroad, I would be very grateful.

With thanks,

Jim
