Motorbike in Siem Reap

hdgh29

I know that it is currently illegal for expats to rent motorbikes in Siem Reap,  but I dont know about just riding one in the city. If I own a motorbike in Phnom Penh and bring it to SR, can I ride it legally? And yes  I am aware that some expats do all sorts of things without worrying too much about traffic laws etc but if I plan to live long term in SR I would  prefer to get it right.

The police do helmet check all the time and collect a small fine from people who are too vain or stupid to wear a helmet.  They don't check for a Cambodian driver's license or registration card unless you are in an accident.

Thanks for the reply but that doesnt really answer my query. I am aware that foreigners are technically not allowed to rent motorbikes in Siem Reap and I have seen in the media that police have cracked down on rental outlets this year. My question was - does this also apply to expats who own their own bike as opposed to riding a rental?

I've been riding my moto here for 4 1/2 years with no problems.

Thanks, that's probably what I wanted to hear.
