Pools and other quandaries...

cody.pope

Hello all,

I'm coming to Sri Lanka for the next few months. I'll be mostly in Colombo. I arrive in late May. I'm wondering about pools and gyms in Colombo. I won't know my neighborhood till I get there unfortunately (if anyone has a good suggest of a place to live, let me know).

From what I can see, it looks like Colombo has a lot of outdoor olympic size pools. That's great! I'm a pretty serious swimmer and am looking for a place that has other serious swimmers--meaning, I'm not looking just to be in a pool, and would prefer to swim around others that know what they are doing. Any suggestions? Is the Colombo Swimming Club too posh? Can I easily get a temporary membership if I have a sponsor? Are there other really great places to swim in the city?

It would be nice if the place has a small gym in addition to the pool. And I'm not looking to spend much, but since it is only a short term stay, I'm willing to pay a bit for membership at nice pool.

Cheers,
Cody

Thanks!, I'm having a bit a trouble finding much online about the Otter club. I'm afraid I don't really understand how one joins clubs. Do I always need a sponsor? I'll only be in Sri Lanka for few months. Can I join clubs like these for only a few months? Thanks again.
