motorbike puncture repair with tyre plug kit

A few days ago a small nail had become lodged in the back wheel of my motorbike. Air was escaping slowly. Took it to repair shop. He had several bikes to repair, so he said he couldn't repair it by taking wheel off completely that day, so come back tomorrow, or he could fix it there and then with a tyre plug kit while the wheel remained on the motorbike.

I opted for the latter.

He fixed it in less than 5 minutes.

I've been riding motorbike for 3-4 days now without any issues. Word on the street (okay- it's actually word online) is that riders have had mixed success with the tyre plug kit being a permanent fix.

How long have you ridden with a tyre plug kit puncture repair before it's finally packed in?

p.s: if you are wondering what on earth I'm talking about when I say 'tyre plug kit':

Have seen bikers and car drivers in the UK use these plug repairs and if done properly they are as good as any other form of repair.

Did it last week at a local repair shop and went afterwards for a check at the Honda garage, asked for an additional anti-puncture liquid (will do a tour in North-Vietnam for a month). They checked the tyre and told me it was ok, the liquid is an additional assurance like I'll drive on remote roads. Did the plug before and as mentioned by some ex-pats: the life of your tyre or another puncture. 馃馃槀

Do they slow slime here ? Used to get it I the UK.. green slime looking compound you partially fill tires with, idea being any small holes it seals automatically
