Shop in Panama

Hello everyone, Have been looking for information for some time to emigrate to Panama with a least hurdles.

Our intention though is to continue working over there. We have a cigar and liquor store (specialties) n Belgium and we would like to expand it further in Panama. Is there a possibility, in what way, in what city, are foreigners (Belgian) allowed to start a business there?

Can anyone give me the necessary information, or possibly a lawyer who can answer this question?

Thx.

Hi, Ues you can open a business here. There are some rules about the number of Panamanian employees versus foreign employees, though.

I’d also suggest reaching out to the Belgian government reps here. Not sure if they have an embassy, but worthwhile checking. If not, then the US Embassy’s commercial service has extensive resources for this.

Highly suggest reaching out to Jaime Raul Molina. I’ve known him for years and he is very good at preventing problems. A critical benefit here.

Foreigners can start a business in Panama. It is advisable to consult with a lawyer or law firm that can assist you with the company formation process, including obtaining business licenses, licenses to sell alcohol, rental agreements, tax matters, employment issues, and more.
