Question about marriage Certificate

Nrambh

Hi

I have been married 4 years back . Currently my husband’s single permit is filed and currently residing in India

One of the documents we would need for our d visa is our marriage certificate which is no older than 6 months .

When we enquired at the marriage registrar we got to know we would only get a “true copy” of the certificate issued with recent date stamp from the authorities and we could get it apostilled . They would not re issues the original document.

is this information right ? Could someone please confirm ?

We also plan on getting our original marriage document apostilled as well just in case ..

@Nrambh Hi,

You just need to appostile the true copy of the MC and not the original document.

Nrambh

@nishharora thank you .

Aneesh

Yes, apostille must be not older than 6 months, and true copy is fine.

Some states in India has e-version you can download from the relevant ministries portal (with e-signature). That is valid too.

@Aneesh Thanks . This is what I received as well a true e copy of the marriage certificate .
