Single Permit from Belgium Employer but salary not processed

AppuBala

Dear,

I am living in Belgium and having Single permit from Belgium employer. My employer is doing a consulting and staffing and I have not received any clients to start my work since 2 months. Due to this, my employer has not paid me the salary yet.

In the past, I have worked for Foreign employer and I have joined this Belgium employer 2 months before and ever since I was not paid.

Can anyone suggest what can I do in this case and how to approach?

Shall I look for another employer who can do me new single permit?

Please assist

Have a look at what your contract says.

Then ask your employer. He might not have a client for you yet but it is their risk if you are on his payroll.

Discuss this with them and ask when you will be paid.

I asked them and the response was when the client comes they can pay. I am not sure when that will happen.

Most of openings that applied are asking for employment contract and not as Freelancer of this Consulting company.

I am confused how to proceed further and whom to consult regarding this.

This is not normal under BE law. They are consultancy, they get a huge margin on top of what you will get as a salary but they must bear the risk of not having client.

Seems they are crocks and want to pass over on you the risk of not having a client on you.

Your options are:

  1. Wait if things get better….but I doubt it would.
  2. Find another job, but the new emplyer needs to obtain a new single permit.
  3. Return back to the country of origin.

Is there any department for work and labour where we can report this and get their support?
