D Visa and Drink Driving conviction

billythekid007

Hello all, I probably already know the answer to this question, but I will ask it anyway, I have a drink driving conviction that will show on my Acro certificate. I got a ban for 12 months and I genuinely feel complete remorse as it was a silly and dangerous act to do and I have well and truly learnt my lesson. However I will ask anyway, if it is possible to obtain a D visa I think its 11 years from conviction before it shows as "no live trace" so it will still be fully on the system as its less than that. I am putting a lot of time in to planning things, but I really do need some clarity before starting to look for property in BG.

I'm prepared for the "you did the crime, so that's your time" crew, and honestly I've done my punishment here in the UK and I know that for some this will never be ok *(honestly myself was included in that view point!)

Warm regards.

I think the crime has well past its sell by ..

Google says acro go back 10 years.  And I think the fact that they only want your last 10 years of address proves that to be the case..

Just remember the acro check only lasts for 6 months in the eyes of BG immigration so it needs to be timed well to last for the visa and the residence permit

@billythekid007Hi it will probably show as "no live trace" due to the step down rule as opposed to "no trace" for a clean Criminal Record. Remember an ACRO is a lifetime check on National Police records not just the last ten years or on your present address. This means that the Bulgarian Embassy can apply for further details but there is a step down procedure based on the type of conviction and as a betting man i would say that a drink driving conviction would be low on their radar. The link to the ACRO step down guidelines are in the ACRO page.https://www.acro.police.uk/s/acro-services/police-certificates

Hi thanks guys, I know it will show as no live trace, after time served and not no trace as would be the case of a clean record, i just cant work out when that will be and the time frame for it being stepped down. I was also thinking would I be best to wait for it to be stepped down before starting this whole process?

As long as you didnt get a custodial then its spent after 5 years.

Is that the case with the ACRO? I know it is with a DBS but I cant use one of them for Immigtation.

Yes its the same standards for both as far as i know.
