Any tips for finding a long term rental in Veliko Tarnovo please?

davidg12345

Hey all,

I'm about to start looking for a long term rental in VT.

Ideally I'd find something in a smaller village in the VT municipality, but failing that I'll look for a place in the town.

I'm looking to spend around 300 - 350 Euro max per month. I don't mind if the place is small, eg. apartment, larger studio etc.

Just wondering if anyone has tips about the best way to look / find a place, and any gotchas or scams I should be on the look out for? Eg. How to avoid getting overcharged as a foreigner. Also, are there any areas of VT that are better to avoid due to safety or other issues?

I have Bulgarian friends who might be able to help me look on non-English sites.

Many thanks in advance for any replies!

VT does have several good local estate agents who handle rentals as well as sales. I'm not sure there will be much available in villages with agents, but it's worth looking. Imot.bg and olx.bg are Bulgarian language sites that also have properties direct from owners and may offer more choices outside the city.

VT is small and touristy, I doubt you need to worry much about crime/safety.

Thank you both!

@Jane, are there any agents you recommend specifically in VT?

David, of the English-speaking agencies, Century Homes (or CityRent, which is part of the same business) is one offering rentals  I have heard other forum members speak highly of.  They may have the best selection.

Yantra Homes only have one house at a higher rent available right now. Mirela have an apartment in your price range in Kilifarevo, a little town not far from VT. Bulgarian Properties covers the entire country and may have something available.

Or if you have friends who can help you with the Bulgarian language sites and negotiating direct with owners, the ones mentioned earlier in the thread may work for you.

Good luck! You'd be wise to try to find somewhere ASAP as rental prices will go up over the summer. VT does get quite an influx then.
