Best areas to live in Bristol

Gwow

I am relocating to Bristol after a long absence overseas.  Quite excited but have only been there once to view some apartments - in the city center and harbourside which was lovely.
Do any of you know anything about Clifton and Hotwells area to live?
Looking to rent a one bedroom or two - really liked the harbourside but yet to see Clifton which I hear is gorgeous.

Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌà Gwow :)

Concerning the apartment rental, you can also post an advert on the Bristol Classifieds Category>Accommodation.

Clifton and Westbury are really nice, Hotwells is okay too as are Ashton and Southville.  Just depends on what you are looking for.  I am American and I really like living in the Southville Ashton area because there is a fairly large grocery store, lots of little coffee shops and central enough to walk almost everywhere.

Thanks for your input Caligirl.  Never heard of Westbury - will check it out.  Im in NY right now - would love to meet for a coffee sometime

The "best" area would depend on what you want out of the city. Posh doesn't necessarily mean "best".
It would also depends on your budget. Whilst you are looking at rental prices you need to consider the council tax bills that accompany these post codes.

Zoro ---- What I always look for when I have moved to a new city

safe neighbourhood, central, access to amenities - shops, restaurants etc, Yes I do prefer more upscale areas - budget - well I think I can handle it - I have lived in NYC and London for half of my life and am quite looking forward to paying less for once.  I like modern buildings but I also love old Georgian high ceilined buildings - therein lies the dilemma or maybe not - just have to go view a few places
