Immigration Lawyer?

Chris Runs

Hello.  My wife and I are US citizens who are looking to retire (imminently) outside the US.  We have visited Ireland and we have decided to pursue relocation to Ireland via the "retirement visa" as one of the few options we may consider.  Does anyone on this board have experience with a specific immigration lawyer/law firm in Ireland?

As a bonus, I would really like to find one with an office in the Texas area for ease of in-person communication, but I am having no luck with that, and such an option is not required.

I simply need to find a law firm in Ireland who is trustworthy and easy to work with, if at all possible.  My searching the interwebs has yielded no useful data in that regard.

Many thanks in advance for any help offered.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

To be honest, I don't think you need a lawyer to do this.  2 useful links:

  1. The Irish Government (Justice Department) have a website with the details of how to apply, this will take you straight to it.
  2. The Irish Government Citizens Information Department also have a website, this will take you straight to it.  More importantly, these people have a Find a Centre section with contact addresses and phone numbers, so you can speak to somebody.

Whatever, I wish you the best of luck in your journey.

Hi Cynic,

Thanks for that response. We may not pursue the assistance of a lawyer, but we definitely need to hire the services of an Irish accountant who has dealt with the Stamp 0 requirements. I am unable to determine the nature and the extent of the financial records that I'm expected to provide to the accountant. Im unable to determine whether our asset portfolio as it is today will satisfy the Irish government and visa-issuing process.

I have looked in this forum, and I have seen people ask about others' experience with accountants, but I have yet to see an answer. Can you or anyone else here recommend any specific accountant?

Thanks for your help.
