Can you still claim an australia rental as a tax benefit?

Anna_Matus55

Hi all, we about to rent our australian home out and move to Ireland..

Whats the deal with still claiming the rental house as a tax benefit if you live in Ireland? Is it still allowed even of you aren't paying Aussie tax?

Hi again.

You will always pay tax based on where you are resident, so any money received anywhere in the world will be classed as income and taxed as such in the country where you are deemed as being resident.  Whether you pay the tax in Ireland and/or Australia will depend on what it says in the double taxation agreement between the two countries; this will take you to a downloadable PDF of the agreement so you can read it for yourself.

Hope this helps.
