re-homing a dog - regretfully

Vicky and Waka

Hello,
We are sadly having to look at re-homing our little dog. Does anyone know of a safe way to do this in Malta?
She is a Collie/ Westie cross (and looks like Hairy Maclairy from the kids books), five years old and in good health, well behaved and lots of fun. She is a little nervy and would suit a family with older children or adults (my toddler is making the poor dogs life a misery at the moment). I am really concerned that she finds a good home and doesn't disappear into the Ether. Whoever adopted her could give her back to us if it didn't work out rather than adopt her on if that makes sense.
We are struggling at the moment as our flat owner's association does not allow dogs, my husband is abroad and one of my children has ongoing health problems. So all of this is through no fault of the dog, who is a joy. Can anyone offer any advice about how best to go about this or a good home themselves? :(
