I feel with you. After all, what did you gt the health insurance  for.

I think far too few insured are calculating the value of their health insurance, especially when living in a country with a NHS. Many people are paying 1000s of EUR every year, but - after co-payments - don't receive much. I believe that the value of a health insurance should be evaluated very carefully. For some people it may not make much sense to have on at all.

I have said this in a few posts. People don't realize that they might not have much (or anything at all) with these private policies.

I would not even consider getting another one now after having cancelled my "required" policy after the first year (with an excruciating cancellation process.

My policy was a basic coverage policy but the first thing you will find with these policies is that the deductible or excess is often at least a thousand Euro's or more.

The problem is with not life threatening but very painful conditions that could be treated quickly, but will take years to be treated in the national health service. And the treatment might be costly. If somebody has money readily available and can spend 20 or 30k without too much worry then the NHS might be optimal. Overall I think it is all a balancing act. Why pay insurance for 40 years if you are run over and killed by a car after an otherwise healthy life. After all, insurance is a risk management tool.
