Help for the elderly

Sandgyver

I would like to find out if  there is any type of help for the
elderly expats living in Alicante.  My aunt and uncle have lived
near Santa Pola for many years and are getting on a little.  Are
there any services available for help in the home?  Does anyone
know?  Any help would be appreciated.

Yes there are a number of support organisations now operating in this area including:
Royal British Legion
Help the Aged
Help at Home
Paul Cunningham Nurses (for very ill)
These services tend to issue updates etc via the local free newspapers and some are connected to the British Consulate Alicante

Many thanks Rob, for the information, I shall certainly pass it
over to my Aunt asap.  She will be very appreciative I'm sure.

No problem, hope it helps. Things are much better here now regarding these issues.

Had another thought as well - the AMICS should also be able to help, its a government dept setup to help foreigners integrate etc etc. there is an office in Santa Pola:

C/ Espoz y Mina nº 55
03130 - SANTA POLA (Alicante)
Teléfono: 966 696 208
Fax:  966 693 029
Correo electrónico: santapola.amics@cv.gva.es
    Lunes a viernes, de 9 a 13 horas

They should speak English, despite this info (cut and pasted) being in Spanish. But to be honest I have never used them.
