UK national with young kids, exploring retiring in Girona, Spain

Bertie66

Hi, my wife and I are considering retiring to Girona or near in order to bring up our 4 and 7 year old kids. We are all UK nationals, healhty lifestyle focussed and only speak English, but hope learn the local languages quickly.

Any help on school options in Girona city?

I am sure you have in mind that Brexit if it happens may change considerably the requirements to live here from what they are now.   However at present no one knows what will happen.

Brexit must be unsettling at the moment. Since I am planning to retire, I hope to be OK

At present an EU national couple require an income of just under 9,000 € p.a.

A non EU national couple require around 26,000 p.a.

After Brexit UK nationals may be non EU nationals.

Health cover currently is available to UK nationals  over state retirement age who qualify, using an S1.     After brexit there may be no such cover,  so applicants may need private cover.

For many that could make settlement in Spain impossible.

Thanks John.
