Setting up a company in Oman! No need of Omani partner!!!

Yezinn
As per the law of Oman a business activity can be run only under the name of a company/commercial entity registered with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Promotion of Investment "MOCIIP". Otherwise such activities are illegal and can be fined and the responsible persons, if expat, can be deported from Oman.

The good news is the MOCIIP removed the requirement of having Omani partner while registering a company, thus, a company can be formed with 100% ownership by expats now. Moreover, the MOCIIP has simplified the procedure to make a company and set up a business in Oman. Accordingly, businesses can be set up very easily and without much of documentary headache.

As a note of caution, please note both the MOCIIP and the Muscat Municipality are seen to issue caution for unregistered business owners i.e. online businesses - through social media, facebook and other online platform () . Expats who are on family visa should not run any home businesses through facebook or otherwise without a commercial registration certificate ("CR").

Hope the above helps!
