Work permit

irenewamaitha72

When someone comes to Turkey with visit visa how long does it take to apply for residence permit?
Is there a way one can find a job in turkey and come with work permit instead of coming with visit /tour visa?

Hi,
The residents visa application is all done initially online and you should remain in Turkey until completed (believe first application requires an interview). If you leave your application is invalid. Duration to complete likely varies depending on how busy the office is at the time, areas likely vary too. Generally anticipated within a couple of months.
Turkey is quite strict on foreigners working. Google the info online as depends on specific things, also what residency etc you get, what job etc.
Personally I wouldn’t risk cash in hand work as it’s not popular to be seen as taking work that a Turkish person could have. It’s easy to report someone and they do investigate almost immediately. Just not worth the risk.
Of course systems change in Turkey so always double check things just before entering into either.
Good luck.

during Covid it varries from 45 to 90 days....the entire process....you dont have to be out of the country more than 14 days , and need to get an approval for it

I received my application approval in three weeks, but until i got the actual card know one would accept it for services I needed. It took almost 7 weeks for it to be mailed to me. Timing all depends on how busy the governing agent is at the time. I have to say I hired a lawyer who was a great help in expediting every thing I required to make the move from the USA to Kusadasi Turkey.

If you would like his name. Let me know. He was so very inexpensive in comparison to other lawyers I contacted.

To get a residency permit you will have to get a tax ID, open a bank account, prove you have enough income & go thru an interview, I hired a lawyer before coming here from the USA. It proved to be invaluable in walking me through the process smoothly and without a hitch. My application was approved in the 3rd week I was here but I did not receive the card for 6 weeks after. Almost nothing can be done until you receive the card. My suggestion to most people who come here as a foreigner is to have an income you can provide yourself by using the internet if that is feasible for you to do. I am a retired man so that was not an issue for me. Even though you came on a tourist visa, which allows you to stay for 3 months, you can stay longer as long as you can prove residency, have a tax ID, have opened a bank account, and have an approval form for long-term residency. I accomplished this all with the help of a very good, inexpensive lawyer living in Kusadasi where I now reside in the first three weeks of being here.

If I can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask.

Dennis
