Property taxes

Billyjoek

Dave and I purchased a new condo in Mazatlan. It was and is still in construction completion. We have payed a large part of costs, but have a final payment due at closing. So technically we don’t own it nor can reside in it because things are not finished. Today we got a bill from developers for property taxes. We are technically not owners yet. Since it is not a residence of ours yet and no final paperwork that shows we own it, we feel it is not our responsibility yet to pay property taxes. We have contacted a notary that would represent us at closing. We will contact her about this. Any thoughts? Wisdom? experience?

The "notario" will make sure it is paid by the legal party responsible before closing. You have nothing to worry about.
