Retirement in New Zealand

StanXG

Hi there,

I am in my early 60’s, with my Aussie partner 56 yo. Both of us are still working and living in Sydney Australia. Being a naturalised New Zealander, I am considering of retiring back to my beautiful homeland with my Aussie partner as I can get NZ aged pension with no mean test unlike that of Australia. We are a bit of overwhelmed by the worsening heat wave in Australia in Summer and it will only get worse with global warming. We are considering to retire somewhere in South Island, NZ as it is cheaper, more scenic and not as wet and not as earthquake prone as in North Island. Can somebody recommend a good retirement place in South Island with the attribute below:

1. Good medical care for senior.

2. Not too far from the major airport in case we need to fly back to Aussie to visit family.

3. Not too expensive in term of grocery and property.

4. Reasonable scenic & peaceful

5. Low crime rate

6. Senior friendly

7. Pleasant climate, not too cold or hot, not too wet either

Your feedback is greatly appreciated
