Hi all. I am a Network Engineer and I will be working on the Exxon project in Guyana from Feb of next year. I am trying to get the skinny on the place.

Have done a couple of Contractor gigs for KBR, Fluor and Dyncorp in the UAE, Iraq and Bagram/Kandahar Afghanistan. I am now getting some much needed R&R stateside.

Would like to know things like a good areas to get an apartment in the city, cost of housing, best places to eat and what the entertainment scene is like. Also what is the current currency exchange rate and the best places to exchange the money. Do's and don'ts, places to avoid and stuff like that.
