The capital city of Rajasthan, Jaipur is one of the top destinations in India in terms of quality living and culture, infrastructure and opportunities. Also known as the Pink City, Jaipur is equipped with all the necessary facilities, including strong transportation network, several universities and higher educational centres, good healthcare facilities and widely-available accommodation.

In July 2019, UNESCO world heritage committee added the city of Jaipur among its world heritage sites. Jaipur is highly recognisable thanks to its numerous landmarks, including striking pink sandstone buildings, palaces and monuments and other magnificent historical buildings. The vibrant culture and traditions of the city serve to add further sparkle to the lively city.

Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) is an amazing pyramid shape structure with 953 windows or 'Jharokhas' that are decorated with intricate designs. The top floors offer stupendous views across the City Palace. The Jantar Mantar Observatory in Jaipur which is an astronomical observation site built in the early 18th century has been classified as a World Heritage by the UNESCO.

The City Palace is also known for its Govind Dev Ji Temple, where various religious events take place regularly and gifts of sweets are offered to the gods. Other prominent landmarks and important monuments in Jaipur include the Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort and Royal Gaitor Cenotaphs.

Jaipur's neighbourhoods

Jaipur boasts of being a well-structured and organised city with its wide streets dividing the different zones and neighbourhoods, which include Anand Lok, Hawa Mahal, Malviya Nagar, Mirza Ismail Road, Sanger and Vaishali Nagar. The Old City with its pink traditional architecture has been nicknamed as'Pink City'. It includes markets, forts and other places of interest that are arranged in a rectangular fashion.

The Mansarover area is centrally located. It is a hub of many colleges and institutes. Several rental accommodation options are available here for outstation students. On the other hand, in Bani Park area you will find shopping malls, fine restaurants, cheap hotels and guesthouses.

Some of the neighbourhoods in the South Jaipur are popular residential areas, like Malviya Nagar and Rambagh. Malviya Nagar is a centre for various industrial and commercial units. It also has malls, colleges, hospitals, multiplexes and schools. Rambagh is considered an upscale neighbourhood where you can find polo and golf clubs. Due to high demand, the accommodation here is relatively more expensive.

There are other options available, such as Ashok Nagar to the South-east of Bani Park, which is mainly a residential neighbourhood where different types of accommodation options are available for rent at affordable prices.

The Palace neighbourhood is also quite popular as it hosts the Foreigners Registration Office, as well as temples, old palaces, markets and boutiques.

Attractions in Jaipur

Make sure not to miss out some of the interesting places during your stay in Jaipur like Nehru market, Jhalaniyon ka Raasta, Kishanpol Bazaar, MI Road, Johari Bazaar, among others. Here you will find alluring art and handicraft products at affordable prices. Moreover, you will also love the unique collection of traditional jewellery, precious and semi-precious gems, pottery, carvings, clothing and garments, accessories, shoes, leather products, etc available in these markets.

Rent prices in Jaipur

The cost of renting in Jaipur is comparatively lower than in other major Indian cities. However, the price may vary depending upon the location and the size of the accommodation. For instance, a single-bedroom apartment will be available for an average of INR 10,000-13,000 per month in the city centre and around INR 6,000-8000 per month in the outskirts.

For a three-bedroom apartment, you will need an average of INR 18,000-19,500, per month in the city centre and around INR 12,000-14,500 per month in the outskirts. Individual houses and villas are also available in different neighbourhoods at affordable rates.
