I'd suggest working for a US company remotely from Brazil, as I have done. Advantage is that Brazilian IT jobs pay about 20% of what you'd expect in the US, and at times even less, so you'll earn much, much more. Plus, you don't need ... Read More
ITR bills arriving even 15 years after my wife sold the farm by Knut34
We are receiving Imposto Sobre a Propriedade Territorial Rural bills and fines for not paying them, even 15 years after we sold the farm. I have 3 very simple question about this: 1. Who is responsible at the time of the sale to update this kind ...
Hmmm, sounds like this family is a microcosm of Brazil as a whole - just one big undocumented mess that somehow creaks along, with the attendant ineptitude, incompetence and inefficiency. Brazil coulda been a contender - it never will be, ... Read More

Just another feather in Brazil's cap, huh? Don't dare say anything against anyone. What a sad excuse for a society. And yes, I am moving away voluntarily, after putting up with this nonsense for several years. What a waste of time it's been. Won't ... Read More

Economics is not rocket science, Want to see manufacturing, sales, wages and employment massively rise? Just cut taxes to a minimum. Why do you think people buy duty free, and flock to Paraguay to buy things there that are exhorbitantly overpriced ... Read More

I'll never forget what a good Brazilian friend of mine in the US told me - "Brasil me revolta!" (Brazil is a revolting place). This country - you meet really wonderful people, and wonder how the heck it's so screwed up. That's what happens when a ... Read More

And now the minister of communication, I think, has announced that 6 of the 12 stadiums will have no/poor access to the internet. A problem that a North American/European private company/country would solve in 3 days by setting up the needed ... Read More

Glad to see some people see Brazil for what it is - a country with some marvellous people, but a horrible failure in terms of government, infrastructure, education, security, taxes, sanitation, and a host of other critical items. Most Brazilians I ... Read More

Well, seems everyone out here's been robbed, mugged, broken into, etc. in Brazil. The US, Canada, and a host of other countries are far, far safer. Let's not quibble about the obvious - Brazil, and all of Mexico, Central and South America, are ... Read More

Yep, the refrain of "this could happen anywhere" entirely misses the point. The problem is that this horrible lack of security and violence is the NORM in Brazil and is all-pervasive. This is definitely not the case in many, many desirable countries. Read More
