How to arrive in USA with a working cell phone by geoffrey9012

Last time I landed in the States after a long absence abroad in Colombia I had no wotking cell phone and it caused me a bit of inconvenience. Is there a way to step off the plane on US soil and already have an American SIM card or other work-around?

LightSister

I wish I knew for sure, as I may be traveling back to the states soon. However, in my mind's eye, I dimly recall seeing kiosks in airports where you can buy SIM. Do not recall the details, but remember seeing them. I would like to know the ... Read More

You are so correct, SoyJames! I took Spanish for several years in school and did very well in it. Then as a teen, I spent several months living in Central America. There is nothing like IMMERSION and just jumping it to learn a language. But there, ... Read More

Tus ejemplos son perfectos! Those phrases are good starters. They will get someone a long way in learning Spanish. And when one uses those phrases, the Colombianos will appreciate at least that one is trying and will do their best to help one learn ... Read More

I'm over 65 yr old. Anybody use Coomeva- medicina prepagada? by Andymedellin

Looks to me like Coomeva is the only Medical Insurance that has plans for 60 + people. At 66 years old, I would pay about $576.765 COP or $199 US per month on their Gold Plan. Anybody part of their plans?

Not having much luck getting through to them or in finding specific information on that program. Dialing the numbers is not working or me and the chat feature is for the cooperative and not for the health insurance. But I suppose once I get to ... Read More

Thank you! Will check it out? Is this amount in addition to the traditional cost for EPS? Or is it just straight out? Read More

Is it impossible to get an good Health insurance policy in Medellin if I am 66 years old? Will Medellin Prepaid insurance accept me? Which companies?

LightSister

But can one even GET EPS as a legal resident expat over 60 without paying an extra premium elsewhere? I've read there is a maximum age of 60-63 for first time EPS enrollees. But this is not clear. I find this inconsistent with a country whose ... Read More

I'd like to know more about this plan. I intend to apply for permanent residency visa and thought I could do straight EPS but am 69. I could barely afford this premium for the Gold Plan. Where do I find out more information? I see Coomeva's ... Read More
