Introduction
Gave up my small business in Scotland doing electrical appliance repairs and domestic wiring and bought a village house with 1.5 acres of land in south west Hungary. Plan is to live off rental income from my house in Scotland plus other investments. I know 51 is a bit young to be retiring but I might get some handyman work from other expats. In 2014 I bought another house, this time in Croatia and the Hungary one is now up for sale. I did not consider Croatia in 2011 when I bought the property in Hungary as it was not an EU member at that time. The main advantage of Croatia is that far more people speak English.
