I am originally a Lebanese behavioral neuro., med student recently graduated from St. Ambrose University, Iowa (USA). I am the proud author and head researcher in a behavioral neurology study; "Virtual Reality as an Analgesic: A Study on Distraction and Pain Threshold" I moved to Oman in search of diverse job opportunities. I interned in pediatric hematology-oncology for a total 2 years at the Royal Hospital of Oman through the duration of my studies, subsequently, I fell in love with the country and the wild adventures one can take on a weekly basis to the interior! That said, I think that the country lacks a social sporting community in which expats, such as myself, can meet up for pick up games of basketball or maybe even volleyball (the main idea being, it is hard to make social connections when you're just another expat living in a county where social integration is limited to school and work! ) Now I live in Nicosia, Cyprus, where I study medicine.
I joined expat.com on 06 July 2019.
The weather is nice.
Hard to meet people as a newbie
Studied Med with a focus in Behavioral Neuroscience.
The ease of making social connections, the accessibility to countless resources for an active lifestyle, and finally the absolute marvel that is their farmer's market; filled with organic greens and the freshest ingredients for both gourmet and rustic home-style cooking !
The frequent road closures due to snow, the sub zero temperatures of -35 C in the winters, the frequent storms and tornado warnings, and the sheer abundance of shady neighborhoods (just an unlucky circumstance of life, I'd assume)
