Had to retire young due to a few cognitve issues that came up with my MS...Those are more resolved but I do use wheelchair for distances (a mall for example), or a set of AFO's (braces easier to understand) and a walker, BUT I walk in my home or where I'm staying.. MS does not truly paralyze unless very very severe but weakens my legs and muscles... I have decided due to one other sudden health event that I I am Caribbean bound. A recent cruise gave me so much confidence as the new (foldable and portable) wheelchairs allow so much freedom. I fly alone often, spent an entire day alone in Cozumel with no problems, snorkled in Roatan without assistance and am very comfortable living alone. Fell in love with Punta Cana via HGTV, then set about doing my homework. Currently going to spend 6 months at a long-term rental and making sure I pick the perfect area. Won't be able to likely be a dual citizen as trips back home will help me stay healthy (2 to 3 weeks at a time) visiting with specialists and my 6 month trial journey will enable me to make sure climate, any necessary sudden physician needs, the people I want to meets, etc., are all up to my expectations. Hoping to search forums here to compare a few favorites as far as condo rentals.. Oceanfront a must and per all information I've narrowed it to a couple places where car never necessary...
