Wrong information, you do not need to be a Portuguese Resident to open an Activo current account, I opened one earlier this year using a non-EU address and non-EU passport.

Just open an account with any Portuguese highstreet bank  that will have you and laters, when you are there,  check if there is an other one which you prefer, nearer, has free coffee etc and change to it. You just seem to making things difficult when, in reality, they are not.

@Antony,

Your residence is always required to open a bank account.

Please, you do not need to open a new thread each time you post a question about opening a bank account !

You can use one of the numerous threads that you have already opened on this subject. It is not by opening new threads that you get more answers.

@Strontium, What you say, that depends on the non EU country...

@JohnnyPT I post only when I need to know information I do not have

If you make a post details with info I think I do not post

I repeat, you can use one of the numerous threads that you have already opened on this subject.

Other banks don't care about your CGD account. If CGD opens a bank account for you, it is because you have a residence. You have already needed that residence to get your student visa. So, what is your problem?

Resident need bank account cos I fund my study

And bank account need Resident

So how to solve this

This is why ask about if bank just open by NIF

@Antony Gamal Abdelmalak

I live in the USA and opened an account at Atlantico.eu.

Look for my previous post where I outline the whole process.

I'm sure there are other foreign students in a similar situation. I think this support office can help you:

Last year I came to Portugal on a Sunday and opened a Novo Banco bank account on the Monday using my Irish passport and my Irish address. I brought my Irish bank statements and brought my NIF document which I had obtained a few weeks before I went to the bank. I had brought other documents, Irish utility bills, proof of work, etc. Can't remember if they needed them.

I went in the morning with all the documents, the bank sent everything to Lisbon via email for approval. I had lunch, then went back to get confirmation that the account has been opened and I got the bank details. I then flew back to Ireland that night. Why a quick visit you ask? I was trying to only need to do 1 Covid PCR test at that time. The one I did in Ireland was still within the 72 hour time range on the way back :)

The bank card was sent to my Irish address. I moved to Portugal a month later.

Antony, i have a contact at Millennium BCP that may be able to help. She's a contact person for new accounts at MBCP Prestige. Opening will still require you to sign sone documents though, either locally or via a Portuguese embassy in your country.

If you need the details, send me a dm any time my friend
