Hello everyone,

Every year, our lives are punctuated by events, twists and turns and all sorts of unexpected things. Local and international news has inevitably had an impact on your life and your projects in Thailand in one way or another.

As the year draws to a close, let's share the highlights of 2022.

Tell us, what do you remember about your year?
What was the highlight of your life in Thailand?
On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your year?

Thank you for your future contribution!

@Mickael My 2022 sucked.

I always looked at my OPD insurance nd thought "who can get up to 30 trips to the hospital"?

Well, I haven't counted exactly, but it is definitely mid-twenties.

I won't get into all my ailments, but I also spent an aggregate of 13 days admitted, and four procedures. (At least all of the procedures allowed for fentanyl, or at least morphine... Maybe that was my highlight!)

No, actually, my highlight was my brother coming to visit for a week we're 12 months apart and were always together; we had the same friends in highschool, and I was actually put into his grade/level after I was kicked out of highschool, but let back in. I lost a yer and we were in some classes together and in the same homeroom. (And we had an adopted brother born between us, so all three of us were in the same grade---my poor mother!)

He had lived in Thailand 10 years ago, and then with me 20 years ago, so he knew where he was going evn though I had to stay in bed.

And that was my highlight.

He came with the full knowledge that I wasn't going to be able to really do anything with him.

Basically, he came to Thailand for a week jist to nurse me.

He did a few daytime missions, but for the most part, he flew 30 hours just to watch movies and . Hang out..

However, my wife is a fantastic cook--both frang and Thai--and she made him all of his favorites... He couldn't believe it.

Not a good year at all. The positive was that my business survived, however all my profits went into medical bills for my missus. She was diagnosed with cancer of the womb in Sept 2019. She was getting regular scrapes at 10 k THB a time. 15 to be exact. I was jumping up and down telling her to get a hysterectomy. Finally they told her they would preform this. Then they only did one side. 1 week later she was bleeding and the comment they made was - we will need to do the otherside!! I was fuming. All the while I was paying up front. I feel that this failure to do the hysterectomy early started the cancer spreading. Practically weekly she has had to go back in to get lumps cut out of her bowels, colon & bladder. She is covered under social security but the hospital doesn't have the ability to deal with cancer, so she is refered to Chonburi Cancer Hospital. Which I have to pay up front. The family has helped as much as thay can, but they are poor rural farmers. It has taken S/S 13 months to start paying back the outlays. But small amounts and monthly which isn't enough to cover the ongoing treatments. My cuboard is just about bare and my business is very slow. So not a bright future for her unless my business picks up. I have natural therapies at hand but she isn't home long enough for anything to have an effect! I have set up a fund me page to ask for help. *        Every ittle bit will help!

Heres praying 2023 is brighter! 1f64f.svg1f64f.svg1f64f.svg1f64f.svg1f64f.svg1f64f.svg

2022 was the worst year under the Covid umbrella. Besides the economic destruction heaped onto the world with the lockdowns, Ukraine and Russia started their border war, oil and gas supply became problemmatic and very expensive, China refused to 'come out and play', and the global stock markets had their worst year since 1920s.  I thoiught 2020 was bad - but 2022 can go to Hell.

On the bright side, everyone in the family is OK, mine and my wife's golf game improved, and we are now 12 months closer to moving back to Thailand.
