Snowpear

Hi there,

I am a Dutch Chinese, who has been living in Aruba (tropical island in the Caribbean:)) for the past 5 years. Some years ago I visited Malaysia and loved all the places I visited, especially KL. Right now I am in a different phase in live and would like to find a job in KL.

This year, end of April, beginning of May I will be in KL, planned to spend some time there to find a job. (I have work experience in IT project management, national badminton coach, and am also interested going into cyber security).

Right now I am trying to connect to communities and make some friends, and hopefully I can find some people who can help me on my way when I get there.

Also I will be looking for a low-range budget place to rent for 4-6 weeks in KL.

Looking forward to your reactions,

Greetings Su Ying

@Julien Hello, my wife and I live and work in the US.  My wife is a Malaysian citizen from Ipoh, Perak.  I am a US citizen.  We are planning to retire to Georgetown, Penang in about 9 years (I will be 60, she will be 61).  I am planning to us the MM2H as my option, my wife is considering US citizenship so she will still be paid US social security to have on top of my two pensions, our savings and my social security.  We will rent or buy a condo in a highrise building, I personally like the idea of The Cove, but she wants something smaller.

svelsewhere

@Julien I am coming to Rebok Marinain my catamaran during August. I hope to spend years there. I will be looking to learn how to do this.

@Julien ,

I am a retiree currently living in central FL. I've lived and worked in Chicago West Suburb for about 3 decades.

My objective to join the forum is to start an exploration for living in Malaysia as expat, specifically in Penang. I would like to learn as much info as possible to make a successful journey. A checklist-style information on how to start, like visa requirements, where to stay, transportation needs, and healthcare would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
