Thinking of relocating to Egypt

Post new topic

janaaniturner

Hello All:

I am new to the forum. I am a 40 year old female currently from and living in the United States, and thinking of relocating to Egypt.

I am not married and my only child is now in university here and I am ready to start my truly living in the land of the pharaohs. Always been a dream of mine since I was six years old.

I am currently a pharmacy technician, which I heard that I could possibly do in Egypt. Don't know.

Just weighing my options. I know I don't want to live in the heart of Cairo but maybe a smaller city. I don't like huge crowds.

Anyway I feel like I am rambling on.

Hope to meet some great people.

@janaaniturner hi hope you are well. If you are looking for a quiet city you might want somewhere like luxor which is known as valley of the kings and queens or if you want something the same but not too lively then you might want to opt in for hurghada.

I've been living in Cairo since the beginning of the year and although old Cairo can get very crowded, generally outer areas are less packed. There are conveniences of living in the capital, compared to other cities but it is mostly going to depend if you have a steady source of U.S. dollars. Certainly Egypt its a cheap country but little by little you can ran out of money fast. If you do have an USD source of income Dahab it's a wonderful coastal town where you can establish yourself, very bohemian, with a lot of expats you can communicate with until you start learning Arabic.

I have acquaintances in Alexandria, you can find cheap rentals with coast views. Assuming you're receiving a USD income, certainly you can live a very nice lifestyle there or in most cities of Egypt. however if you're looking for a job or to do business, Cairo it's a more suitable city than Alexandria. Sharm El Shiek and Dahab are other coastal towns you want to checkout if you want a peaceful way of living close to the sea.
