Hi. I have giggled reading your question. No, it's not peaceful at all. 🙃 Actually, VN has so MANY tabloids under the cover of so called "electronic news websites". Even a bunch of government-backed "electronic newspapers" love to make readers indulge in dramatic scandalous stories about all things you can imagine, from celebrities scandals, adultery to s*x techniques and online trashtalking. I often have to turn off those sites from my news feed if I use Bao Moi app or something like that. Some trashy sites IMHO as examples:. Kienthuc.net.vn ("Knowledge.net.vn"): electronic newspaper, yellow press, full of doubtful facts, UFO hoax, conspiracy theories and fake steamy historical stories about Chinese dynasties.. Kenh14.vn ("Channel14.vn"): electronic news websites, full of scandals and celebrities. Sister site: doisongphapluat.com ("Life and Laws.com", but nothing worth to read about laws). Similar to: 2sao.vn, ngoisao.net, saostar.vno, soha.vn, vietgiaitri.com, eva.vn, yan.vn, tiin.vn, ngoisao.vn, afamily.vn, cafebiz.vn, 24h.com.vn,.... Nguoiduatin.vn, phunutoday.vn. Government-back electronic newspapers but love clickbaiting viewers by yellow press: vietnamnet.vn, toquoc.vn, danviet.vn, baodansinh.vn,...

I see,  thanks a lot for your post !

Plenty I think on FB and other discussion websites inside Vietnam. Car crashes, celeb gossips serve as an outlet for people to avoid talking about important issues like politics and governance. That's why they are allowed. Sort of a media bread and circus equivalent for authoritarian regimes. Getting independent reliable news about Vietnam is rare, except from the occasional articles from international wire media.
