Birth certificate in Norway

Hi everyone,

hope you're doing well.

my wife has just given birth at F酶rde hospital and we have not been given any birth documents. The nurse and midwife directed us to the tax department to get a birth certificate, but the next appointments are at the end of September and I need a document quickly to register my child at the French and American embassies.

Has anyone here received documents from the hospital allowing them to register a child at an embassy?

did you give the child a name already? My kids are half Norwegian so the process might be different, but we had to log into Altinn to register the name, and after we did that, we got the birth certificate.
