Hello chimacollins83,

I'm sorry to read this. Have you tried to check the links I shared in post #30? What kind of job are you looking for exactly?

Thank you,

Lauranne

@Lauranne

Any one that does not need a qualification,there are so many types of job ,one can do without qualifications,(e.g) caregiver, cleaning, fruit packaging and so on, I'm a secondary school graduate and I only obtained my secondary school certificate,I want to work if only I'm giving the opportunity to get a job in Luxembourg

Kind regards

GuestPoster3233

@Lauranne Good morning. Unfortunately, they said I don't meet their criteria. Maybe it's because I am not residing in Luxembourg at the moment

Lauranne

@chimacollins83

Hi chimacollins83,

You are right, there are many jobs that don't need any qualification. Have you tried checking the websites I gave in post #30? You can also find other links to job search websites in this topic, or on this page of the guide. I don't know how you are or about your personal situation, but have you considered coming to the country as an au-pair?

Have a good day,

Lauranne

@majorychikanya64

Hi Majory,

I'm sorry to read that. Is there a way for you to ask them what their criterias are? Because normally this website was created specifically to help find workers for jobs in critical shortage, and if they don't find people living in Luxembourg, employers can benefit from special conditions to hire people coming outside of EU.

Please let us know if you manage to have more info!

Thank you,

Lauranne

In French ? It is a must that it has to be in French ?

Lauranne

@sindisiwebrendaa

Hello sindisiwebrendaa,

I think she was talking about the nurse exam, which you don't need to pass if you already have a nurse diploma. You do normally need to speak French, German or Luxembourgish to be able to work as a nurse in Luxembourg. They might accept English speaking people willing to learn one of the 3 official langages of the country at the moment because they desperately need nurses.

If you need more info, you can try to contact , or look at which gives specific information on the steps you need to take to work as a nurse in Luxembourg.

Does this help? What is your current situation?

Thank you,

Lauranne

Hello

Im a ghanaian trying to get registered as anurse in Luxembourg. the first step is seem to be demanding an equivalence of my certificate. Can anyone who has gone through the same process help me out.

Lauranne

@Delfra

Hello Delfra,

There’s a post on this topic on the forum in French. Here’s a summary of all the information shared there:

Administrative Steps for the Recognition of the Nursing Assistant Diploma in Luxembourg

1) Application for Recognition

  1. Submit an online application (via the link below) or by mail. The process costs €75.

  1. The response time can be lengthy, taking up to 9 months.

2) If the response is favorable

  1. The process continues with an additionalpayment of €300, which must be made within a shortdeadline.

You then have a choice between:

  1. A paidinternship lasting 6 months full-time (40 hours/week), including the preparation of a report. Note that finding an internship can be challenging, especially if you don’t speak Luxembourgish or German. Additionally, you need to find a “supervisor” within the service, which adds to the complexity. It’s recommended to planwellinadvance if you choose this option. During this time, you may be employed as a “Care Agent” or “Senior Assistant,” for example.

  1. Or a theoretical and practicalexam.

3) The Exam

  1. You will receive the necessary documents to prepare and sit for the exam (written in DecemberorJune) within a timeframe of up to 5 months.

  1. These documents cover Luxembourgishlegislation and professionalethics for the exam, so there won’t be any unpleasant surprises in this area. For professional knowledge, specific documents (theory and technical sheets) on the topics to study are provided, though they don’t go into full detail. Recommended books are listed at the end of this post.

4) The Written Exam

  1. The theoretical exam lasts 2 hours, and you need to score at least 50% to pass:

  1. 1 hour on Luxembourgishlegislation: A multiple-choice questionnaire (20 points total). (Correct answer = 1 point; no answer = 0 points; wrong answer = -0.5 points). Legislative documents can be consulted during the exam, but it’s advised to know the key points in advance and to have prepared summary notes or bookmarks to avoid losing time.

  1. 1 hour on professionalknowledge: Questions may include multiple-choice, short-answer questions, definitions, or diagrams. Topics can range from general knowledge to specific subjects such as normal and pathological blood pressure, diabetes (glycemia, insulin), anticoagulants, oxygen therapy, enteral and parenteral feeding, stomas, etc. (See the list of subjects provided for study).

Results are communicated approximately 1 to 1.5 months later. If you pass, you’ll be given a practicalexamdate, usually 3 weeks to 1 month later.

5) The Practical Exam

This lasts about 20 minutes and involves two care tasks to be performed while explaining every step, from entering to exiting the patient’s room:

  1. First task: Manual blood pressure measurement on one of the examiners (you must master the norms, concepts of systole, diastole, etc.).

  1. Second task: A randomly drawn care task from four possibilities, performed on a mannequin (e.g., capillary blood glucose measurement, insulin injection, anticoagulant injection with low molecular weight heparin, etc.).

Pay close attention to details, such as the proper and safe use of the DASRI container (medical waste container). For example, always use the universal disconnection notch for detaching needles.

Recommended Books and Resources

  1. Guide AS - Aide-soignant (illustré, August 25, 2021) by Catherine Muller, Jacqueline Gassier, GÉRACFAS ISBN-13: 978-2294771026

  1. Guide anatomie et physiologie pour les AS et AP by GÉRACFAS, Michel Joubard ISBN-13: 978-2294766541

Additional Important Information

Since 2021, a new nursing assistant diploma has been issued in France: DE - Aide-Soignant (RNCP35830), Level 4 (European nomenclature). It replaces the DEAS - Diplôme d’État d’Aide-soignant (RNCP4495), Level 3.

This new diploma better meets Luxembourgish requirements, and holders are subject to a 2-month internship for recognition in Luxembourg.

If you have any doubts or questions, don’t hesitate to contact the Luxembourg Ministry of Health: professions.sante@ms.etat.lu

I hope this summary is helpful and encourage you to stay persistent, as the recognition process can take between 1.5 to 2 years depending on the circumstances.

Feel free to ask if you have any additional questions about this topic!

Have a great day,

Lauranne

@Lauranne

Thanks for this information.

but i want to also know that, must I be in luxembourg before I can undergo the Certificate recognition  process (diploma equivalence)? Because I tried the first step but could not complete the application because I was asked to provide an EU residence OR LUXEMBOURG residence permit .
