Hello everyone
I consider to relocate from Philippines to Sri Lanka, to Galle.
My questions are
- How much would cost a furnished one bedroom appartment in Galle?
- Is Sri Lanka noisy as Philipinnes like, rooster crowing nonstop, dogs barking, traffic etc?
- What is about a tourist visa , I am 71 , is there any special visa for retired, I am Turkish citizen.
Thanks
Nicholas

@ncicekci7164 Sri Lanka NOISY! & most houses have single glazed windows. In addition to the animals & traffic you’ll have teabun man theme tune, the ice cream man & the random pedal bike seller shouting, as well as the religious songs. Unless you pick a secluded spot that is.
Depends on your style, most rental places come furnished. You can checkout ikman for rent & singer / arpico website for rough price of the type of goods that you like. You can also find slightly cheaper alternatives in local shops.
I don’t know re the tourist visa, I believe its 3 months you get. After that you can renew online once or visit the colombo immigration office (about 2-3 hours away visa highway from galle). I think the maximum is 6 months then you have to leave, but I havent had a tourist visa in years here.
Thanks Sinead,

Is the people educated, respect others, especially expats?
Here in Philipinnes, no one reads, let alone bookstore is available.
@ncicekci7164 There are educated people all across the island, but I’ve only found book stores in colombo (one galle face mall, some on galle road or around Colombo). I’m sure I remember 1/2 in Galle.
Emmmm, you’ll be talked about, but in Sinhala or Tamil so likely wont understand at first & lots of questions for you. Alot of information is still word of mouth so its quite handy to speak with the locals. They are friendly like in the phillipines & will help out if they can. Theres a large expat community in Galle so I’m sure you’ll find it easy to adjust, especially if youve already lived in Asia.
Hi Sinead,
Where are you from ? I am Turkish.
Considering seriously to relocate to Galle, what can you tell me about Galle.
Is it boring, are there occuring cultural events, like concerts, theather etc. ?
I am working online a couple hours daily, what can I undertake in City Galle?
Are you happy living in Sri Lanka?
What do you miss?
Thanks for your response
