Looking for Aussies who applied for O type visa

Post new topic

Hi there

I would like to know if there are any Aussie people here who have applied for a type O visa recently (90 days retirement visa), as I can get my head around the requirements any more.

Consulate person say insurance is NOT required but when I try to apply online they ask you to provide an insurance policy.

Now the consulate phone is off the hook and no one answers to clarify.

Why does everything in Australia has to be so complicated???

Leeds forever!

This is not the first time the Thai embassy and consulates in Aus have had wrong information online. It was the same when Thailand opened up last year. It seems like they haven't been informed about changes,OR they simply don't understand. I wouldn't be surprised if they are closed tomorrow because of a public holiday in Thailand.

It's just frustrating! What is so hard about implementing a simple update on the website?

Today (Monday) there was no answer for the whole day  so you're telling me that it's a public holiday tomorrow? What's for? Kings birthday?

I bet the consulate workers just took another day off today to have an extra long weekend and they didn't even bother to record a message on the phone...Sometimes I think that Australia is more third world country than Thailand...

The former kings (Bhumibol Adulyadej) birthday. It's called "Father's Day" here.

Using so called bridging days to extend weekends is very popular here.

As a Canadian who has recently been through the process I can tell you that Insurance is no longer required for Non-Immigrant (O). Just go by what the form asks you to do, not what is written on any website.

@rbakker

The website form doesn't let me submit my application if I don't upload a certificate. So easier said than done...

Guy Dolev, I tried it out and I see what you mean. What a hassle for the Aussies. In Canada it's all done online now and I think we just fill in a central website that's the same for (almost) everyone. Maybe Australia will do it that way one day too, it's a lot easier for them. Good luck!

@rbakker

Maybe one day...Until then Australia is not part of the 'elite' countries who can have an e-visa. But I'm used to this country being behind in so many things which is one of the main reasons I'm opting out 😊
