Business Bank account nightmare with Sohar

Post new topic

Massss

Hi all

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the Oman weather this time of the year.

Im from U.K. and I’ve opened a company in Muscat (100% foreign owned by me) a year ago and while I was there I opened a personal and business account with Sohar international, personal was so straight forward but the business has been a nightmare … took me nearly 6 month to receive an activation code via email for business online banking and then keep running into issues for paying Salaries or even when clients want to pay me!

So far no Omani client managed to bank transfer any amount to me online, they have to physically go to my branch and deposit the cash!!! Very inconvenient and embarrassing!

Is this normal for banks in Oman or it’s just Sohar international that’s little bit different!

I would really appreciate it if anyone who’s in the banking industry or know someone who could give me some advice so I can perhaps look into opening my personal and business accounts somewhere else the next time I come back to Muscat.

Thanks in advance

Mas

If your company has an office lease agreement registered with the municipality then approach Bank Dhofar or OAB. Seems the merger between HSBC and Bank Sohar didn't enhance their services.
