You would get a better response if you posted this in a general forum rather than New to Ghana. Also you could try Expat Pet owners in Ghana on FB as there are people who would assist you with the information you need

Dear all,

my name is Kofi. My father is from Ghana. I am 55 years old. I was born in Germany. We lived for 5 years in Ghana until we returned to Germany in 1976. I have been in Ghana 4 years ago together with my father. Beside visiting our relatives I wanted to check, if the are any oppotunities for me to start an agricultural projekt in the region of Koforidua where our family owns some acres of land. In Germany I am working since 20 years as social project manager.

Although I enjoyed to meet my relatives my overall experience was quite dissapointing. I have the experience although I am a black person that I am consired to be a white person. It is true, I am European and I am aware that I enjoy many privileges as a result. But what many people don't seem to be aware of is that I am seen as a black person in Europe and in Germany. Experiences of racism are a big part of my life in Germany and my hope has always been that I would at least find more acceptance and recognition as a person in Ghana. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case. Even many relatives are only interested in whether I have money for them. In fact, I am very interested in building up a business in Ghana. Unfortunately, I lost a lot of money because I tried to build up a satchel water production with great confidence. Unfortunately, this company never really worked and my relative has many excuses. But I never saw any profit. However, I have not given up hope yet. I dream of finding a person in Ghana that I can trust. In Germany, I have successfully launched many projects. Because I had people I could trust 100 per cent. However, my dream is to build something in Ghana because I don't want to lose contact with Ghana, especially since my father died last year. I am aware that if I don't succeed in building a connection to Ghana, it will be lost forever. That would be very sad for me. I have a son whom I would like to show Ghana, the country from which his grandfather came. His grandfather whom I and my son loved very much. I have many ideas and energy and connections. The only thing I lack is a trustworthy person. A person who, even though I did not grow up in Ghana, still recognises me as a Ghanaian. I am grateful for any exchange that brings me closer to this goal. That is why I hope to engage in a productive exchange through this forum. Best regards

Julien
