Hi all,

What do you think about the means of transportation in Salvador da Bahia ?

Is the network of means of transportation well developed?
What modes of transport are available?

Do you use them?

How much is a fare?

Are they relatively safe?

What is the mean of transportation you use the most in Salvador da Bahia?

The transit system is well developed and will speed you to your destinations. The fare is $R2,50 reais or a bus pass. Taxis are also everywhere, simply hold out your hand and a taxi will see it shortly. We use both bus and taxi. Another mode is rent a motorcycle in On Dina, but it ain't cheap at 60 reais per day.

The buses are safe and easy to use. They don't have a scheduled time, but rather just arrive every 10-15 minutes with the location of their stops listed on the side. It costs $2.50 for a regular bus and $3.00 for the nicer bus with air-conditioning.

Taxis are really easy to use, and you find them everywhere you look. The rate starts at $3.50 I think, and $4.50 on weekend. If you are going someplace that you frequent, be sure to pay attention to how much it costs and agree on the price befor hand.
