We Re Canadian couple looking to spend Canadian winter in Costa Rica will buy from local and cook at home looking for safe not expensive area to rent walking distance to beach and market.been to Dominican Republic it was okay for our budget

Need more information please

Thanks

edwinemora

@freeperson.....Do not compare Costa Rica to the Dominican Republic !! It is two different worlds....You two are already *** with the belief to buy from Costarricenses.What is guaranteed just about all these properties will have some serious legal glitches,along with the constraints.....Heads up !

freeperson

Hi can you please explain

You two are already screwed with the belief to buy from Costarricenses

edwinemora

@freeperson..Costa Rica at the beach,not for the budget minded..No joke !

@freeperson

I think you can do it; but it'll require some 'on the ground' legwork... as well as a trusty Tico to help with the language barrier... if you don't have any Spanish under your belt.

Renting near the beach will be expensive... unless you go a little further away from the beach and live amongst the Ticos... who, most likely, work at the beach.  The rental will not come with appliances ... and may need some paint; a roof patch, window coverings, etc., as well as doing your own garden work (cut grass, trim hedges).  Shopping for groceries can be pricey as well... maybe 'observe' where the Ticos buy their produce; etc.  It's all part of the Adventure.   Know this... if it is 'obvious' when you inquire, especially on-line, or via WhatsApp texts; that you are from North America, i.e. Gringo.... your prices will go up regarding rentals; etc.  Even the options will change... nobody is going to offer you an OK cottage in an inland village for $200/month.   They'll assume you want fully furnished, all appliances, no lawn care responsibilities, security, etc.   That puts you in higher 'rent' bracket immediately.  And the 'location' will most likely put you 'away' from the lesser priced produce and meat markets, etc., where the Ticos shop.  i know you are looking for 'beach' but there is way way more to living or staying in the magic of Tropical Costa Rica than the coastal areas... my guess is that 60-70% of expats live inland; not 10 minutes 'to' the beach... but 2-4 hours 'from' the beaches... where it is cooler (imagine no AC) and greener and full of rivers and mountains and farms (cheaper food) and rain/cloud forests; water falls, natural thermal 'hot' waters to sit in, and a more authentic culture, perhaps.  I almost never go to the beach... 3x in over 5 years... but I swim in a local river where the water is clean and refreshingly cool regularly.

Good luck.  Pura Vida

EVERY time i go on this site you have something VERY negative and misleading to say about Costa Rica!!!

If you hate it so much… then move to another country!!!!!

I truly feel sorry for you… seems you have nothing better to do with your time than trash Costa Rica!!!

Get another hobby.

Costa Rica is a FABULOUS place to visit on vacation… and to live.

EVatlantisCR

@freeperson

PLEASE disregard negative comments you received.  Seems a certain bitter person enjoys discouraging folks from coming to Costa Rica.  He states HIS negative misleading OPINIONS as if they are facts.

There ARE places to vacation and live in Costa Rica on a budget.  For more information message me directly.

@EVatlantisCR.....You are mistaken.......I just give a warning and a heads up...Gringos fly in, buy a condo in Guanacaste,then think they are an automatic real estate agent and can censor you in your own country,over and over again.The only thing you feel sorry for is what you can't get away with in Costa Rica.......Get it straight,Get it right ! I love my Costa Rica !!

Henrych

@EVatlantisCR when truth doesn't feel the "pura vida"narative you enoy that much and wish to belive you attack the person. I bet you've received at least two c19 jabs believing another narrative....very typical. CR is good to live if you are filthy rich. Period. As to me, the only part of this country that I enjoy is the ocean. I won't be here if my home country hasn't turned into s.hole thanks to lie admiring population and blockheads, so...I prefer s.hole by the warm ocean. Edwin tells the truth you hate so much.

@edwinemora

Perhaps YOU should get YOUR facts straight before you make incorrect assumptions, and insult people!

I am not a â€Gringo†or a â€touristâ€, nor am I selling any property.  I moved here, on my own,  2 years ago to retire, and live the rest of my life in this beautiful country.

I am retired, 67 years old, living on my Social Security income.  I am far from being "rich".

Just because you claim to have been born here, does not make you an authority on life EVERYWHERE in Costa Rica, nor does it give you right to make derogotory remarks to folks that want to come here.

You seem to take great pleasure in attempting to discredit those (including myself) who have, or are having, a POSITIVE experience here in Costa Rica.

FYI: My father was born in Costa Rica and my mother in Cuba.  I happened to be born in NYC but grew up mostly in South America.

I have over 30 relatives who were born here and live happily in various parts of Costa Rica.

This is my HOME, and my father's country.

I have nothing to "gain" by sharing my enjoyable, positive experiences living in Costa Rica.

EVatlantisCR

@Henrych  Correction: I am not â€filthy richâ€, far from it.  I’m retired, on a limited income.

Edwin speaks of HIS negative experiences and his OPINIONS as if were a FACTS throughout Costa Rica.

He makes condescending comments to folks who want to come here, and tries to discredit  those who live here and are, in fact, actually enjoying La Pura Vida.

i never said Costa Rica was perfect… but it is one of the best places, in my opinion, for folks over 60 to live, given the political & economic unrest in many countries.

edwinemora

@EVatlantisCR.....Just look at your activity log.....You put your rental out on blast in this group, in one of your 1st comments, along with "trust me I can help you"......A native New Yorker,an American who calls herself a Tica after 2 yrs of living in Guanacaste......Such B.S.for someone not even in the 'Registro Civil'archives......You are either born here or you are not.....New York is not a province of Costa Rica.......You make up your own rules,like the majority of Americans here......Kneel,pray at the alter of your candanga to wish me, others,bad experiences and misery because you have been called out......That 'Blue Zone' spiel or fraudulent hype in previous comments made by you,only applies to the generations before me........ The rising body count in Guanacaste proves where we have arrived,to a narco state......The recent murder in broad daylight,down the road from the most popular Gringo Spiritual Center in Guanacaste is proof.......Obviously you have money you don't miss to throw at HOA's and other legal constraints.........This was your father's country not yours because he was born here....

edwinemora

@TerrynViv.......That is funny coming from you because you have money to throw at HOA's and other legal constraints also..
