Keith Richards 80

Mick was 73 when he, sired his last child.

He can not let go of his  youth.

Believe me, I can not stand to hear a single line of , rap, crap music but the drama is what lures me in.

I know this evil satanic stuff has been going on forever and a year.

My mother used to  drill into us a thing called, white slavery, told us about young people being shipped overseas in cages!

How the heck did she even know about this stuff??

My mother grew up in the black community in the 20s and 30s. Moved heaven and earth to escape;

All I can say is keep a close eye on your younger loved ones and keep your eyes peeled at all times.

My famous claim to fame is that I lived in a council flat in Kings Drive, Wembley (UK). Behind us was an estate of post-war prefabs (Pilgrim Way), where Charlie Watts (RIP) was born/brought up. I can't make any claim to friendship, though.

Ooo...sounds like tenuous links to fame poker!  I'll play! I'll raise you a comedian!

I had a temporary job driving a van in London during the summer one year in the 1980s.  I had numerous encounters will famous people, some desirable and others less so.

I nearly ran over Alexei Sayle.  For those who don't know, he's a fairly well known comedian and actor in the UK.

He was on a bicycle tried to turn in front of me on the A40 when it was possible to turn across the carriageway back then.  I think I perforated his ear drums leaning on the horn.

There were some BBC studios along there so I guess that's where he was going.  He made it of course as I'm not that much of a bad driver.

Mick has numerous kids I read on the Internet.  He's a good business man and knows how to make money and entertain.

I think my opinion of him has mellowed somewhat over time. I didn't really like that vacuum cleaner mouth of his but the music was OK.

Now I think he's doing well for an old fogey.  If only we all could be as sprightly at 81.

White slavery was practiced by the British too when they shipped convicts out to Australia.  And indebted servitude I read about in school history classes.

Marilyn Tassy

I do not have any big claims on meeting famous people.

Cracked me up once at the Burbank airport on our way somewhere.

Robin Leach , the host of the tv show, Livestyles of the Rich and Famous was there.

He was with some younger women and going out economy class like the rest of us smucks!

Saw Faye Dunnaway at the same airport another time as her driver was opening the door for her to leave her limo. I glanced at her as I passed her car, no biggie.

Geoffery Lewis, the side kick in numberous films with Clint Eastwood, came into the salon where I once worked.

Located in Encino, Ca. He brought in a couple of boys for haircuts, might of been his sons. Did not say a word to anyone as he sat waiting for their turn.

I dealt an hour of blackjack for the comedian, Wanda Sykes . Had to sign a NDA first. Did it only because my boss asked if I would do it and he was a super nice boss, so hard to say non thanks, do not need the extra pressure. She was fliming a bit for some skit , I am sure I was chopped out, at least I hope so. never bothered to look at when or if it ever aired on tv. She did not say a word to anyone? Had some guy sitting next to her couching her with the game. Did my hour and she left me a $50.tip.

Stood in line in a health food store behind Robbie Benson, big in the 80s.

Had Charlston Heston eye balling my sister and I to the point where I was super uncomfortable. She had front row seats at some tv show filming and we sat front and center. We just happened once again to dress like each other; Happened allot without any pre arrangements on our part. Yes, we were cute way back when...

Sale show one of the hosts was the comedian, side kick of Carol Burnett, Vicky Lawrence.

She was warming up the crowd and came over the my sister and I. She chatted with us, my sister did all the talking. She was super sweet and had flawless smooth skin.

Can not think of any other celebs I was in close contact with.

My sister must of met half the people in Hollywood at one time or the other.

Then never impressed me much, nothing to do with my life or paying my bills.

Marilyn Tassy

Yes, it was creepy with sitting in front of Charslton Heston. He was talking to the crowd during his interview but kept look straight at my sister and I.

Marilyn Tassy

I forgot about the most up front and personal meeting of a famous person.

I was 17, my friend, 21 and my little niece was 3.

We were babysitting my niece and got bored so we dressed up and went to hitch rides to the beach for a stroll.

Not exactly a good thing with a baby but it was the early 70s and we were dumb. The world seemed safer back then even if it was not.

We wore crazy outfits, a leotard with beautiful vintage scarves ties all over us. Put on white face and tons of makeup, even on the baby.

Were up on Sunset Blvd near a hotel. As we waited for a hide to come along, we heard people from high up in the hotel screaming at us to not move, they were coming down.

2 members of the group, The Chambers Brothers came down.

My friend knew exactly who they were, I had no clue until later.

They wanted photos of us because we looked so, outta sight.

Took a few photos, had a quick chat with them and along came a ride. Nice guys.

Marilyn Tassy

Ride, not hide although my sister almost took our hide when she found out what we did.

fluffy2560

I always remember him holding up a gun and talking about taking his rifle out of his cold dead hands as he was some big wig in the NRA.  I quite liked Charlton Heston up until then.  He was in one of my fave films - The Omega Man - itself  one of many remakes of I Am Legend.   He also did  a few solid Westerns.

Very difficult for us over here to understand the love affair with guns and the NRA.  I know it's in the constitution but my reading of it is that it talks about people's militias, not individuals.  People here in Hungary like guns as well.  Near here there are shooting ranges and hunting areas around here.  You can hear volleys of shots at weekends.  I really cannot see the attraction especially when they are practising to kill things.  I wonder if there are any vegetarian hunters. Sounds like a oxymoron. I mean people killing animals for sport yet not eating their kills.  Hmmm.....questions for Friday afternoon...post-gardening.

Marilyn Tassy

I feel in love as a tiny little girl with both Heston and Eastwood. Eastwood played the cowboy  Rowdy Yates in a tv show in the 1950s. Guess I am a straight white female because I was about 4 years old and had a crush on them both.

Ber Hur we saw when it first came out at a American drive in movie in Conn.

Not so fun however as a late 20s married lady to have him smiling to the camera and checking out my sister and I. Knowing my sister, she probably was digging it but not me!

My poor husband, he was aware of how my older single sister loved having me with her so that she got more attention.

He was really cool about it most times but sometimes things have to give. I remember a short period of a year when he told me I should not even talk on the phone with her.  I was not very aware of hos fragile the male ego can be.

Now I understand; a bit late however.

NRA, my brother was a memeber of that.

Real Americans who are not insane or have issues do respect guns and honestly lock them up around children and never use them as their first choice in any dispute.

We only hear about the nutters who should of been put away for their own good .

Like my soul friend; born the same day as me, her step father shot off bullets through their living room ceiling!!!

The entire family was bonkers. Her bio father was a full tile resident of Camarillo state mental institution

Her bro has issues as I have mentioned before; Valley victorian who went nuts while giving the graduation speech at my sisters graduation. My sister was wild and knew good old Even and said he was even too nutty for her§ That says allot!

Her mother had been put away in the past too. Weird that her mom was a teacher in a pricey private school in Ca.

OK, I have lost the plot, maybe this should be on Anything Else??

Marilyn Tassy

Man, I do wish my edit worked on this sight!!

Who couldn't like Eastwood?   He's a real action hero and a super film maker.  But I also wondered about his apparent womanising and how he broke up with his first wife who supported him in the early years.  He wasn't very nice - according to the press - to Sondra Locke.  She was like a pixie but if you look at his other relationships, a couple of  his other loves were also like pixies as well.  Obviously he has a thing about waif-like women. Charlton Heston I know nothing much about other than his NRA support.  He also seemed a surly kind of fella.  I wonder how much fun he was at parties.

NRA people say daft things like "guns don't kill people, people kill people".   Aw, come off it, who's going to fall for that stupid argument!

But I do agree that people have the right to bare arms, especially in the summer.

You're right, it's in the wrong place, we should be at Anything Else discussing this kind of thing!

@fluffy2560

Eastwood is an awesome Director.

fluffy2560

I watched this on Netflix. dates from 1966.  I was looking for Charlton Heston movies but this came up.  It's an enjoyable Western and a typical romp with an excellent ensemble cast.  Lee Marvin, Burt Lancaster, Jack Palance, Robert Ryan, (notice he's not on the poster - key part of the plot, terrible racism including in the dialogue)

Good ole, Rowdy Yates, the character Clint Eastwood played back in the late 50s 60s in the tv show, Rawhide.

There was allot of westerns of the tv back then, Maverik, Rawhide, Bonanza,The Rifleman, and many more.

Little House on the Parie was filmed in our town, we also had Corriganville, later it was bought by Bob Hope and changed to Hopetown.

Many westerns were filmed in Simi because of the rugged landscape.

IDK if it is true or not but my father once said we were related to Jack Palance.

My Mum was a fan of The High Chapparal. It was kind of a love story so I guess that's why she liked it.

I remember Bonanza and Hoss with his ten-gallon hat!

The cast of the Little House on the Prarie weren't so lucky. I believe bad things happened to a lot of them. Murder, drugs etc.

I liked Jack Palance. He was in a lot of solid movies. He was also quite good in comedies too.

My sister sho seemed to meet just about everyone, meet Dan Blocker, Hoss.

Said he was really , really nice and just huger then life; Think he played football in school.

I came across and old UK tv show called, On the Bus.

Was too late to start watching it.

Is it worth viewing?

Seems like a lot of actors were "football" players in university or whatever, perhaps on scholarships.   Woody Spode who I mentioned before was also a "football" player.   I think others were too.  Must be an entry point to show business.

Not trying to be a pedant but I put "football" in quotes because US "football" isn't the OG football aka US term "soccer" - yuck, hate that term!   It's a weird time here in Fluffyville this morning.  It's like everyone got out of bed the wrong side. Grumpy kids, grumpy pets, grumpy me!

- French retired football player - plays heavies in the movies now.

That's ancient UK TV.  It was called On The Buses.  I used to like it but it's incredibly dated.   It did spawn some movies I believe.  It's very typical of  UK 1960s TV shows.  A lot of it would be potentially racist and so on.  It was different times.

It didn't end well for most of the cast.  Some of them fell on hard times and the guy who played the conductor, killed himself.

I've seen episode 1 of Wolf Hall Season 2 and Mark Rylance is - as usual - excellent.  He's supported by known names like Jonathan Pryce.

The only thing I have to complain about is the sound quality of the dialogue.  My hearing is terrible anyway. It's not because it's quiet. They mumble and whisper as that's part of the plot. It's very hard to hear and the copy I have does not have subtitles nor have I found them online.  I might try watching it with headphones.   It's a show about words and one really needs to hear what they say.

fluffy2560

Watched this on Netflix.  Wasn't bad. Good for a slow afternoon.

Decent cast including Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from Game of Thrones.

Obviously was filmed in Iceland.

Started The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix as I've run out of early movies right now.  The LL has good reviews but I'm not that convinced by the main character Mickey Halley lead actor.

This is part of the detective/lawyer/cop dramas and books from author Michael Connelly.   If you are a fan of the Bosch TV detective show which is very well cast and well made, this will link it up as lawyer Haller is a half-brother to detective Bosch.   There is some overlap but it's only in passing. I guess it's all turning into a franchise.

13 episodes but so far only 5 are available on U tube.

Too bad, was just getting hooked on the show.

He was undergoing cancer treatments while in production too.

I liked Patrick S. Obviously he was in Ghost as his big breakout hit.

I was surprised he was diagnosed with cancer because as a professional dancer/actor where portraying health is everything, you'd think he'd have been really on top of himself.  I guess that just proves it's all down to random luck.  I don't need to tell you that.

They could have recast the show with someone else in the lead.  It's not unheard of to recast a show with completely new leads.  It's quite bizarre to have one actor in a show one minute and suddenly another one playing the same character. And all the other actors just carry on as though nothing happened!

I'm only on ep. 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer.  Apparently, it really improves in ep. 3 when the actors get in the swing of it.

Patrick pretty much was the show. Only 13 episodes were made.

He played an undercover FBI agent with a rookie partner.

He did all his own stunts while having cancer treatments too.

I know it is weird and never is the same when they change actors in a show.

I was watching a long Turkish series called,Magnificent Century. About Sultan Suleiman and his Rus, Ruysn ,some say Ukranian slave girl who he married and made her into a Sultan. Hurren Sultan.

She bore him 5 children and their stores were all so tragic.

Towards the end of the series they switched out actors who played Hurren.

Went from a beautiful vibrant red headed young women to a worn out old lady. Of course they had it were the age difference was explained with a plot twist. Good actress but I could never get over the switch out.

I must hand it to the Turks for making great dramas.Once I get hooked on one, I can not stop watching.

Shame about Patrick.   He was a hero of movies of my youth (somewhat, more like my 20s).

I suppose if the female Turkish hero was promoted, she'd be a Sultana.  I suppose it'd depend on who was doing the raisin'.

A lot of shows are coming to an end, either of the season or the entire series.

The one I will miss most is .  It's just so off the wall bonkers, I have to give the entire cast an Oscar for pulling off such absurdity and keeping  straight faces.

Meanwhile, "From" the successor possibly to the mystery series Lost, has finished it's season 3 finale.  Questions have been answered but many remain.  It's already been renewed for Season 4 but it looks like we'll have to wait until 2026 to find out what happened.  WTF?  Over a year?  They should have filmed them back to back.

i'm on Season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer now.   It's become a bit formula.  Strangely enough I was at the mechanic's this morning and saw a Lincoln SUV parking.  Exactly the same colour as the LL's car too.  Spooky, life imitating art (again).

James Patterson's detective Alex Cross has a new TV series.

Cross was previously played by Morgan Freeman and others.

Update:

Binged all 3 seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix.  It was quite good overall.  I got into it.  Worth a look if you like legal or police procedural drama.

If I had a criticism, it made lawyering look easy, everyone makes loads of money while eating junk food continuously, driving flash cars/motorbikes and slumming it in designer suits.

Cliffhanger end of Season 3 means there has to be a Season 4.  Netflix cannot cancel but they've been known to do such things with popular shows.

Speaking of police dramas.

I am going way back to the 1960s,70s by rewatching an old tv show called, Police Story.

Every episode has a cast of different actors and takes place at different police stations.

Last nights episode was strange;

Stars of that episode were Chuck Norris and Sly Stallone! Sly was probably writing his Rocky story at the  time because he asked his partner in the show to call him Rocky! Super funny!

I think I remember Police Story.  It was quite good.  I think that kind of show is called an anthology series.  Sly Stallone is OK as an actor but his politics suck big time.  He's a new show called Tulsa King.  He hasn't aged very well.  He looks like he's been abusing steroids in the past.  But he does seem easy in the role of a mafia old hand.  Not sure what that indicates.

My favourite shows of that era were The Streets of San Francisco (Michael Douglas), Police Woman (Angie Dickinson),  Cannon (William Conrad) and Rockford Files (James Garner).   I liked the format of Streets and the folksy ways of Rockford.

I wasn't much of a fan of Starsky and Hutch but David Soul I had more respect for in his later work when he arrived on UK shores.

Surprising that Kiera Knightley makes an excellent spy and that Ben Whishaw moves seamlessly from voicing Paddington to shooting it up as an assassin.
