Work permit - Family member

Post new topic

André Silva

Hi everyone,

I would like to know how long it takes to receive the work permit for a family member of a Visa D category. My wife received an offer and she will be the one with visa sponsored by the company. I am her family member, and I’m in the middle of a hiring process right now. Thank you so much in advance

As a dependent, you dont require a single permit for working. But if the company insists on getting work permit for you, then it will take the same time as it took your wife to get her visa. (3 month approx).

@arjunprasad2143 Thank you!

will the conpany be able to contract me using only the ”dependent” visa status I will have since day 1 we get in the country?

@André Silva Yes. Its possible.. You will need to apply for dependent visa along with your spouse's single permit before coming here.

@arjunprasad2143 Thank you, again!
