Winter temperatures

Post new topic

Nikborda28

Hi all,

we are retiring in June 25 and were looking to move from the UK to Portugal. We do however prefer the Greek way of life and particularly the food.

Due to a medical condition we need warm winter temperatures.

Our research shows very conflicting results on this so it would be good to hear from people who live on the island as to what the true winter temperatures are like ?

Hope to hear from you all

thanks

@Nikborda28 Hello,

I live in Athens but have been to places in Greece and also have some expat friends living in different places.

My opinion is that the more North you go the colder the winters. Elevation also plays a role. You need to ask for specific places or search the internet for temperatures over the years because some places that are at sea level may be colder than other places of the same latitude because of mountains or currents, etc. Don't forget that humidity plays a role in how you fell the weather, cold or hot.

I have a good friend from UK that lives for many years at Leonidion (Peloponisos) and they have made good friends with locals at the Cafenion (local old fashioned café). I can ask him to give you his FB or his email but not in public.
