VT is essentially a beach city for the locals from HCMC and nearby provinces. Also, it's a good place for kitesurfing. Very few international tourists make it to VT, but there is a sort of expat ghetto centered on Phan Chu Trinh St. There are essentially three mountains, a fishing industry, a port and some offshore drilling (Petrovietnam).Check expat.com's guide for more info:/en/destination/asia/vietnam/vung-tau/

Thanks a lot mate ! Truly appreciate your input.

I am looking at renting a 2 bedroom apartment with sea view at Goldsea. Any comment about it ?

That building was built when I was still there, so it's relatively new, 5 or 6 years? From the outside, the quality of the building looks good. The obvious advantage is the sea view and close proximity to Bãi Sau (Back Beach). The bad news is that you'll be in thick of it most every weekend and especially any official holidays and long weekends. Hoàng Hoa Thám and Thùy Vân Streets, (the street Goldsea is on and the beachfront road) are usually chock-a-block.

Here's an article from an article from last year with some photos:

Vung Tau draws crowds of tourists during Tet holiday

There's also a major renovation project that has just started that is "expected to be completed in April 2025":

Going to Xom Luoi seafood market on Phan Boi Chau street to buy fresh seafood for good price.

I think the best selection and prices are on the cross street:

I looked at a few apartments there, but for various reasons I didn't prefer the building or the area, even though it's close to Back Beach & the sea.

I ultimately choose a high ocean view unit in the Melody (condos).

It's a much better location for foreigners (IMHO) and in the right unit, the views of the ocean and night lights are very impressive.

The walk to the beach is still quite easy.
