as much as i love egypt, there comes a certain point where i no longer feel love,as much as i feel i want to get out of this strange country, but i am hooked here by a contract,so unfortunately bailing is NOT an option!
some one once said don't judge a book by it's cover, will in egypt the cover is usually correct, they either want to rip you off ,or piss you off,or stare at your chest and say some very vile things,
egypt has the potential to become a great country, but people here have no clue how to make use of everything they have, they take it all for granted, they think the revolution will bring the what they desire most, more money, better jobs, everything would be less expensive, but it's the exact opposite,so far the "revoultion" didn't help reduce the unemployment rate,it didn't make the meat prices decrease, and sure as hell no one is happy, and to come and think of it all ,they still have such a long path,it's not lighten with bright light, nor is it apparent what lays ahead,so it's like rain dear in the headlight, pure and utter ridiculousness, they must change the most simple things such (the way they think-the mentality - rudeness- only looking after today not the future) they can't set future plans, they only take but not give, and every one is selfish, they don't want to give back to their community .
you must fix the little things so you can fix the bigger things!
u would never imagine how ur words were so exact right arranged down to explain cleaearly and perfectly what we r suffering from in this country
i realy wanna thank u for putting the real problem of ths country down here, now we knwo for sure it was not president mubark and his stupid team the problem of ths country, the disaster is in the people, and am so ashamed to say 100 yrs to go egypt to be a civil country with civil people one day!
and it is the time for us to realy think and realise hwo painful it is to not even have a right and good elected men running for president palce! tld u hunderd years to go egypt!
am a frustrated egyptian girl by the way and am wondering if u r egyptian too?
but i want to thank u for it realy, wish every egyptian read it and comment, who knows may be a change might occur

No I am not from Istanbul but I know Istanbul well. I believe Egypt has at least the same potential to be like Turkey it is just as Rana21 said " you need to change little thinks first to be able to move to change the bigger things.
I can not agree with you I see the problem as following.Egypt is still in its first year of freedom .From the beginning of Egypt you cannot read something like justice or democracy. However, when Egypt asked for her people to save her they make a revolution and was ready to die only to save the country. All what you see know is very natural in a country where democracy was a dream to be find in paradise only.

Totally agree with you, as we must see the bright side of Egypt as usual, just remember our history and then you will be sure of the coming future for this country!
well seref,
if so, then we shouldnt be judging egypt now or thier people, still 10-15 years for the result of the big change to take place and be there infron of our eyes, like turkey, if we gonna have this country as a grea example for rising up to the cilized world.
correct

I don't like to reply on topics that can open an endless conversation, but this issue is really a depressing for every Egyptian that cares about this mysterious country.
The Egyptians were never been like this 30-40 years ago, people were polite, respectful, educated at least they were ruled by Mr. Anwar El-Sadat, an extreme difference....I will always say about this generation that spent most of their life ruled by the past government that we are "A ROTTEN INDUSTRY MADE BY RECEDED REGIME"
Internally, Those people corrupted the EDUCATION which is the key of any population development resulting in Ignorance, Poverty, diseases. so don't be astonished when seeing people piss you off, or staring at you, believe me this is still acceptable.
Also tightening this amount of people in very small pieces of lands compared to their numbers frustrated and depressed them by time without they can feel it and know the problem.
I never blamed the Egyptian person he was always a victim, struggling every day to secure his tomorrow.
Hey... I just like to mention somthin' here, it's all about the MENTALITY, belive me we need to go back days where they can teach the kids in schools how to be more positive, thats all & all is about RESPECT, & as i see the situation through my own view as far as ppl suffer from feeling unsatisfied & suffering from WALLET CANCER things will stay the same & belive for all not egyptian go deeper little bit inside the egyptian & u'll see how they are just a GREAT ppl but they just need a good leader who can lead them to the right, but we have to start with ourselves first & for who not egyptian may be u suffer from not organized transportation system, but at least u got the right treatment from egyptian & it is our SMILE & how we are HELPFULL... It all about time, we just need more space to RISEUP again
For all who been in this conversation, have a agreat weekend...
You took the words right out of my mouth ...I could not agree more.I am an Expat from The U.S. and I have been living in Egypt for 6 years...well written.
HOLD UP! ya'all this AIN'T my form, this is how I feel about egypt, and i understand what they are facing, but the way they are dealing with it is ridic,so excuse me for not liking egyptian very much! all am saying is,if they had more money and more education in this country, they would be in a much better place.
I agree with u 100% Rana,as people in Egypt r trying always to find excuses for their failures,i newly came here and i'm really shocked of how people lives with a big amount of drama, the other thing u were 100% is about trying to rip off as if it were their right or it's a normal human habits.

It seems that you don't even understand the Egyptian when, did they ever admit a failure to find an excuse for it !!!!...seems that you heard this word and kept repeating it
their real problem is that when they travel abroad like you and get overwhelmed by other people's civilization they return indignant on what they where living in
The drama you are talking about is so real it might be the same that got you in a plane outside this country...
I am totally against the daily life of the majority of the Egyptians but again it isn't their fault this 80 million population have been suppressed in a way or another for decades including their high classy people.
Sorry u r being one of the real Egyptian drama i've talked about!
I have never lived in Egypt to return indignant on what i where i was living in,i recently came to Egypt and i've never been here for a long period as i am now for 8 month.
What u can't understand about Egyptians that they r looking back to the history book where the ancient Egyptian had built the pyramids and repeating WE R Egyptians! where i can't find anything in the country to be proud of,bribes everywhere, majority dont even know what is a clean means, everyone at a sudden became a political expert and anyone who just invalidate the other opinion becomes a negative person or he is simply from the old regime.
It has nothing to do with population other than it's the Egyptian way of everything.
Thats cool... you analyzed the people of Egypt in just 8 months
anyway its not fair to generalize this on the whole population, I agree with what you say that one of the major problems in Egypt is talking about what you know and don't know i call it "FATYOLOGY"
but that was not the topic that rana was talking about.
Briefly....
The welfare of this country will be brought by the upcoming generation and this will not happen before 30 years from now, its our rule to help them live a better life
Hope we both can meet here after 30 years

Scroll up Ibrahim and you will find that I was trying to explain why some people in Egypt are acting like this, and in order to fix your problems you have to reveal it, understand it am just trying to face the truth and be as fair as possible cause no one can deny that Egypt is suffering whether he is a tourist an expat or a citizen.
You mentioned a good point that rarely found outside this borders...Compassion !
Appreciate ur frankness , yeah, what u said is totally true. There r plenty of good virtues deeply rooted in their blood yet the biggest problem comes from the illiteracy .. There r lots of people who r not civilized which is really a pity...
