Entry/Exit Requirement Update: Must Be The Same Passport

Post new topic

Clip

I'm subbed to the UK embassy email notifications. Had one recently that may be significant:

Vietnam travel advice

Change made:

Information on exit requirements that you cannot leave Vietnam without a valid visa and must enter and exit Vietnam using the same passport (‘Entry requirements’ page).

Time updated:

1:58pm, 20 August 2024

Going to the embassy site we get:

Exit requirements

You cannot leave Vietnam without a valid visa and must enter and exit Vietnam using the same passport.

I got a new passport about a year ago. At the time everyone with a new passport was required to exit by plane via an airport.

According to this update, it seems it's no longer possible to even leave by plane!

Just a heads up about this update on the website and its wording.

@Clip   mmmmm....  really that action of entry/exit "showing" same passport applies to any country. For example,  you entered to Vietnam, and if you need a new passport from you embassy, you only need to show the previous passport with your entry and receive the exit stamp in the new one.

if you have 2 passport of different citizenship, you must only show one of them at the entry and the same when exit

if you lose your passport, report it to the local police and to your embassy as well and they will support you to get an Emergency Passport with an exit Visa to return to your country only.

I always suggest this to travellers:  1. take a notarized full copy of your passport before leaving your country.  2. Take two notarized full copy of your passport when arrive to any country. 3. scan your passport an keep it in your email. 4. Leave your passport in the hotel and go anywhere with your local notarized copy.

Those notarized copies will help you a lot as a proof of who you are in case you lose your original passport.
