Hi, my name is Robby and I'm  way too close to 70.  I'm here just to look for info and advice if I decide to leave the DR (electricity, noise, and traffic are my main problems here) and move to Mexico.

just bought a house in Celestun Mexico.  Sleepy fishing town famous for pink flamingos.  Quiet, quiet beaches, cheap and gorgeous sunsets.  In the gulf of mexico so you don't have to worry about hurricanes and is one of the lowest crime areas in all of mexico.

Marina Vallarta is safe but very hot in Summer.  Make sure to do your research as many places seem attractive, but very dangerous Cartel activity.  We are somewhat protected here as only one Cartel owns this community.    Do not be afraid of that as the mistake is moving to areas that they are fighting for territory.  We have lived here 11 years with no problems, being you can adjust to the Mexican way of life.  Actually quite liberating
